Glasgow - View from the Craw Stane

Hand coloured digital pigment print, 88 x 48cm, edition of 15.

A view from the Southside across Glasgow from the Craw Stane on Bonnyton Moor. The 'mark' stone is possibly of Bronze Age origin or even earlier. The image references cartographic imagery from the Bartholomew Survey Atlas of Scotland, 1912 and various 19th views of the city adapted to include aspects of the contemporary skyline and elements of the city's iconography.

The images of the cityscape come from a wide range of images of the city from circa 19th century until today. I have collected images of the city over the years which I have found interesting and have used several here ranging from my own hand drawn etchings of buildings to more accurate photographic records.
