Rubh’ an Dunain
Digital pigment print in an edition of 15. Image size 97 x 71 cm, paper size 107 x 81 cm.
Selected from the SNH 2014 map as it lies within the wild land
areas (Cuillin, Isle of Skye SNH ID 23) but has been previously
populated. There is a variety of archaeological sites on the peninsula
dating from the Neolithic onwards and the area was occupied until the
clearances of the 1860s. It is now believed that Rubha an Dùnain was an
important site for maritime activity for many centuries, spanning the
Viking era and later periods of Scottish clan rule.
